A man has been charged with the death of a woman who advertised massage services on Craigslist. Philip Markoff, a 22-year-old Jewish student at Boston University, was charged with the murder of Julissa Brisman, 29, at the Copley Marriott Hotel. He is also accused with assaulting another woman at the Westin Hotel.

Boston police say Markoff has no prior criminal record, and is studying pre-med at Boston University.   8


 

Julissa Brisman Worked At A Hotel

Julissa Brisman, 26, worked at the Marriott Copley as a masseuse . Her body was found Tuesday, collapsed in the doorway of her room. Police said she was shot several times in the torso.

"It appears he was preying on people who are in a vulnerable position, said Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis.

Davis says authorities had the Boston University student under surveillance "for days" before arresting him. Police refuse to discuss other murders he may be connected to.
 

Killer Is A Son Of Wealthy Dentist

Markoff is the son of a Syracuse dentist, and part-time professor. The Poppa is a second-generation Holocaust survivor.

     A 26-year-old BU student who lives in the apartment below Markoff said, “I’m shocked.” John Uva, 24, a next-door neighbor of Markoff, said, “He was a nice, clean-cut Yeshiva student. I didn’t expect anything like this. It’s definitely scary. It’s unsettling to have him next door.”
